MEI Report No. 799: Outlook for Farmouts in Mexico

Our Report No. 799 is the fourth report that we’ve completed on farmout agreements as practiced internationally and how they might be practiced in Mexico.

The report identifies the basic contractual concepts and terminology in a farmout agreement, and explains how the current legal and regulatory framework is not yet prepared for an agreement of this type.

While Pemex has been vocal about the need for farmout agreements, the new leaseholders will also need recourse to this contractual figure if their contract areas are to be fully explored and developed.
